Mauritius eSIM: frequently asked questions
Networks, prices and activation for the Mauritius eSIM, taken from the plans on this page.
Mauritius has three mobile networks: my.t, from Mauritius Telecom (the brand replaced Orange in 2017), Emtel and CHiLi. Since 31 October 2023, every Mauritian SIM has to be registered: a tourist shows a passport and proof of an address on the island, and the operator takes a colour photo to compare with the passport picture. Without that photo there is no registration, says the regulator ICTA. With the Bitcall eSIM there is nothing to register: no passport, no photo, no proof of address.
One that works as soon as you land, with no ID and no forms: the Bitcall Mauritius eSIM. It connects to Emtel. Plans start at $5.82 for 1 GB over 7 days. Unlimited data starts at $36.10 for 10 days. The Bitcall eSIM needs none. You buy it online with just an email address, and every plan includes 5G and hotspot.
